CTO Midtown Express heats up the party at Blue Bell Inn
January 2 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
Who says a small party can’t have a big band? This party was hot even before Midtown Express started!
CTO Midtown Express performed for an intimate gathering of friends and relatives to celebrate the marriage of Mr. and Mrs. Christopher McVeigh. Set in the historic Blue Bell Inn, in Blue Bell PA. The setting for the reception was striking, and included a beautiful tented enclosure which featured a dramatic fire pit. Following the cocktail hour, Midtown Express performed for the couple’s nuptials. This began by bringing in the wedding party processional to Stevie Wonder’s beautiful ballad, Ribbon in the Sky. The Blessing Speaker, James Mcallister, provided a entertaining toast as well as thanking the two families for coming together for this momentous occasion.
After the vows, band leader, Virgil Walker, seamlessly led the band for the couple to celebrate the union with their First Dance, Al Green’s “Let’s Stay Together”. The party continued with dining and dancing throughout the evening to one of the most versatile party bands in the region. The attendees then filled the floor dancing. CTO Midtown Express featured Na’eemah Harper and Jea Street on vocals, Virgil Walker on bass and vocals, Charles DiPuma on saxophone, Ted Brown on drums, Ken Morgan on keyboards, and Bob Shields on guitar. At one point members of the band joined the crowd by dancing on the floor (and around the edge of the fire pit which thankfully had been turned off because of the heat generated by the band). The expansive repertoire of the band kept guests entertained through cake cutting and desert, multiple conga lines, and concluded with Midtown Express whipping guests into a frenzy and calling for an encore by playing the classic Isley Brother’s tune,”Shout!”
